Learning scientific concepts often requires unlearning misconceptions. LexIcon created Wizards and Mirrors, an interactive exploration where students move through a virtual rooms using virtual mirrors. The program was used in a controlled study comparing middle school students using it against a control group receiving teacher-led instruction. Results indicated that both groups learned the concepts but that computer group spent less time to reach proficiency. |
