Responsive Text

Since 1990, LexIcon Systems has worked with Adult Basic Education agencies in Vermont and Massachusetts to develop basic skills instruction for the workplace. Under grants from the U.S. Department of Education LexIcon developed a multimedia approach called Responsive Text.

Using what we know about fluent readers, Responsive Text embeds text, charts, graphs, and basic math in a supportive and interactive environment. While primarily a means of practicing basic skills, Responsive Text uses content relevant to today's workplace, including Sexual Harassment, HIV/AIDS, and ISO 9000.

Goals: Create material that presents job-relevant content and basic skill instruction in a reader-supportive environment.
